Our Story

Edgewater Restaurant is apart of Millennium Hotel and Resort Manuels, Taupo's only hotel right on the lakefront with uninterrupted views.

Manuels resort dates back to October 1968 when owner Mr. Ron Lyne brought the old Edgewater fishing lodge which was built in the 1930's. In those days you still put your shoes outside the door to be cleaned, and tea plus bread & butter was offered to all guests in your room by maid service at 6.30am every morning.
At 6.00pm each evening, a three-course set menu was announced by the sound of a dinner gong for those in house residents who all came at once, ate, then returned for the lounge for coffee and biscuits.

From here, the Hotel underwent many changes and the one dining room was built into two, creating the Beach 243 and the Edgewater Restaurant.

Our Lakefront Lounge bar was refurbished and designed into a place where you can relax and enjoy the best of Lake Taupo.
